A NEW SPACE IN LONDON, FOR PUNKS, BY PUNKS. REBLOG PLEASE!
Been tossing ideas about this back and forth for a bit. Last night was the first benefit for this project. It was great, but bullshit with the venue and the tossers who run it ironically made it all the more clear how essential a sustainable DIY space in London is. By punks, for punks; “DIY or die”, “if you don’t get it”, “wut we do is secret”, etcetera.
See diyspaceforlondon.org for more info. Send us your ideas, your money, your criticisms, your good vibes. Sign up for the email list, throw a benefit, tell us where you think this should be. Have your first band practice next week — we want you to play a show when this thing gets off the ground.
(On a personal note, though I am bummed to be leaving London at the very beginning of the phases of this project that move beyond the five of us involved in initial conversations, this kind of thing only reminds me how important it is to KEEP DOING GOOD WORK and how stoked I am to get back to Philadelphia reenergized and reinspired and to throw a bunch of rad shows and weird happenings.)
on a personal note, you’re not allowed to leave BUT!!!
this is one of the most worthwhile grassroots plans for a SAFE public space that i’ve seen in all of my years of going to basement shows and being an american dirtbag.
support this, and not only will you make a space free of harassment and idiot ideology, but also a space that supports people like you. your bands. your art.
having to turn to sexist overlording promoters to do a DIY show NOT DIY and it’s not SAFE.
let’s take this back, it was ours to begin with.
